2024 Toyota Land Cruiser vs 2021 Land Cruiser Review
Future Toyota of Yuba City welcomes back the Toyota Land Cruiser!
Surprise! After 3 years gone by with the belief that the Toyota Land Cruiser was a retired model, Toyota surprised all of us with a big comeback! Future Toyota is proud to present the completely redesigned 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser for sale on our lot in Yuba City! With deep roots in the automotive industry extending back to the 1950s, the last time we saw this iconic SUV was in 2021. Boasting a trucklike body-on-frame construction, the 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser presented as a larger luxury SUV that was very well-built and very off-road capable. Although a smooth ride and excellent reliability ratings led the 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser to a consistently high popularity rating, the heavy construction led to a less-than-numble drive feel, a high price tag, and poor fuel economy compared to today’s standards. Lucky for you, and all of the other Land Cruiser enthusiasts around Sutter, Marysville, Olivehurst, Oroville and Yuba City, the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser adjusts in all of these departments, presenting a four-cylinder hybrid powertrain that is still powerful but doesn’t guzzle the gas, cost’s half the price, and still appeals to those off-road enthusiasts who wanna ditch the pavement for the weekend. The exterior design throws back to that boxy Land Cruiser of the 1950s, offering that authentic vintage feel with today’s modern tech and comfort features. Join Future Toyota of Yuba City as we take you on a journey through the brand new and completely redesigned 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser, delivering info on all of the trims including the First Edition and 1958, as well as engine specs, and how it has improved since the last production year back in 2021.
Power, Performance and Efficiency
Compared to the 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser, buyers who come to our lot get a significant powertrain upgrade with the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser. A 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine is paired with an electric motor for this new model, while the 2021 Land Cruiser houses a 5.7-liter V8 engine: an absolute beast, but also quite that gas guzzler. Power output doesn’t suffer much with the new engine, with a total system output of 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque compared to the 2021 model which put out 381 horsepower and 401 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission is the only option for the 2024 Land Cruiser, sending power to all four wheels via a two-speed transfer case. This new powertrain promises sharper performance compared to previous models, thanks to the jump in torque and a weight reduction of nearly 800 pounds! Buyers can most definitely expect a more responsive and maneuverable Land Cruiser that's ready to tackle any terrain you put in its way with new technology like a locking rear differential, a Crawl Control System, and hill-descent control, as well as a disconnectable front stabilizer bar that adds smoothness to the ride on rougher trails.
Today’s consumer wants a fuel economy that cares about the environment and doesn’t push their budget. The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser offers far superior fuel efficiency ratings to its belt with a 22 MPG rating in the city and 25 MPG rating on the highway. The 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser offers a meager 13 mpg city and 17 mpg highway.
Interior Highlights
Back in 2021, the Toyota Land Cruiser was a three-row SUV, adding to its larger footprint and less than satisfactory mpg ratings. The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser ditches the third row, offering a spacious interior for 5 adults and a larger and more usable cargo area. We love the rugged exterior design, and we were happy to see that the 2024 Land Cruiser’s interior compliments that with a functional and purposeful design. A single panel houses both the digital instrument cluster and infotainment screen, creating a clean and integrated look. We love the physical buttons for climate control that allow you to keep your eyes on the road, and a traditional gear shifter sits comfortably in the center console. Base models get a generous 8-inch touchscreen while other models upgrade to a 12.3 inch display and get a Wi-Fi hotspot and better sound system. Convenience abounds with a digital key which allows access to the vehicle using your smartphone, and owners can share a “key” with other verified users.
Trim Options
One of the main reasons for the high price tag of the 2021 Toyota Land Cruise was that all of the options were included in the Base model. To make the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser more accessible, Toyota created three trim levels to fit the needs of different customers. Let’s go over the 1958, the Land Cruiser, and the First Edition trims here.
1958
Named after the year the Land Cruiser came to the United States, the 1958 is the base offering of the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser, and it is for sale here at Future Toyota of Yuba City Well-equipped and offered at a more budget-friendly price, the 1958 boasts 18-inch alloy wheels with all season tires, unique circular LED headlights, a tow hitch receiver, a front skid plate that protects the engine and transfer case, a rear locking differential, and tow hooks. Enter the interior and find plush cloth upholstery, three-zone climate control, a heated steering wheel, a 7-inch gauge cluster, an 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, six handy USB ports, and a 2400W AC inverter.
Land Cruiser
Next up is the Land Cruiser, a midrange offering that upgrades to larger tires, rectangular headlights, color-selectable fog lights, roof rails, a power tailgate, and surround-view off-road camera. The interior offers the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, faux-leather upholstery, a 10-speaker sounds system, and heated and ventilated front seats. Two-tone paint and 20-inch wheels are available add-ons, as well as the Premium Package which includes genuine leather upholstery, a head-up display, a digital rearview mirror, center console cool box, wireless phone charging, and a premium 14-speaker JBL sound system.
First Edition
This top trim adds on unique 18-inch wheels, rock rails, roof rails with a convenient cargo basket, mudflaps, leather upholstery, a tailgate light, a more extensive skid plate package, and it goes back to those vintage-inspired round headlights.
